ROBERT PERNELL GRANT
* "I don't want to do anything that involves big explosions or anything that can go wrong in the way of pyrotechnics. I like to be able to do something behind a wheel or a physical stunt, something that I am responsible for. I feel better if I made the mistake rather than anything mechanical being responsible."
- Jason Statham .

Even so though, Robert is still the guy who loves to have a good time.
If you are one of those people who happen to get on his bad side, it may turn out to be something you truly regret. He's never been one to appreciate rude remarks and self centered attitudes. - - - - overall history, Robert grew was born in Southern LA, but that isn't where he grew up. There was no specific area that he truly grew up in. With his father being in the Air Force, they moved around a lot, and even traveled all over the country. Throughout the traveling however, Robert learned many things. There were some places where they'd only stay a couple months, and then some places where they'd stay a year or more.
When his father was stationed in Japan, Robert was twelve. His father thought it was best that he had some sort of activity after school that kept him busy. Robert was given the liberty of choosing that activity. He ended up taking Jujitsu classes. He learned quickly but never actually attained his black belt. They only stayed in Japan for a year, so there would have been no way for him to attain such a level of expertise.
He took some more classes however as they traveled more and more. He'd occasionally find a place that taught the art, but he wasn't able to keep up with as much as he would have liked. At times when he could find a place to learn Jujitsu, he'd take up kickboxing. The same thing happened with that though. They'd move to a place where there wouldn't be either and again he'd be forced go for a period of time without learning either.
It wasn't until he turned eighteen and was able to go out on his own. Starting his life back where he first started, Los Angeles, his first decision was to start back up on both Jujitsu and Kickboxing. He wasn't making the money he needed however working the small jobs that were offered to him. So by the age of nineteen, Robert had made the decision to follow a career that would earn him a decent income, or at least something to get his life started right.
That's when he found himself joining the United States Marines. His scores on the military ASVAB turned out to be in the upper percentiles of the country, and his physical testing was more than appropriate for the military. His first year he was placed in as infantry. Fortunately for Robert, while serving he was still able to learn martial arts. After the first year however, Robert was offered a spot on the special forces. Accepting the job, Robert found himself in a much more intense training. The training to become a Marine was intense to start with, but it didn't compare to what he had to do for the special forces. Originally he had a four year sign on with the military, but upon accepting the position in special forces, that got pushed up to eight years.
Robert found a lot of hardships in the special forces however. He had lost numerous comrades on the field of battle, and had even witnessed some first hand. It didn't take long for that to take a heavy toll on his mental being. It was during his time in the special forces that he achieved his black belt in both Jujitsu and Kickboxing.
After serving his eight years, Robert got out from the military at the age of twenty-seven. His first job out of the military was as a security guard for a large well known bank. The pay was decent considering the bank and location of it. However, it really had never been intended to be a permanent job for him. Things would start to change for him though. He ended up losing his job not long after getting it due to alcohol. After getting so many flashbacks of his time in the military and the deaths of his friends, he was reduced to an alcoholic.
Now unemployed and drowning in alcohol, Robert's life was going downhill and fast. He was getting to the point where he didn't even care anymore. The only reason he still had a home was because of the money he had gotten from the military. If it wasn't for that he would have been homeless long ago. After a year of being in this state, an old friend caught him in a bar. It was this same friend who eventually convinced Robert to join alcoholics anonymous. It didn't work at first, but over time Robert was able to get himself sober. Afterwards he had become very close with his old friend, feeling that he owed him for practically saving his life.
It was later on, a couple years later, that the debt was finally asked to be payed off. It wasn't seen that way of course. His friend had simply wanted him to work as a bodyguard for his daughter's rock band. Apparently they had become quite big now and were attracting bigger crowds. His friend figured he would be the most trustworthy guy to be watching over his daughter. Robert of course accepted the position. After getting the job, he then found himself traveling everywhere the band went, until they arrived at their last stop. On some island where they were told they could not leave.
Things began to change quickly between Robert and Josie's father however. Josie and her father were soon becoming distant and on bad terms it appeared, and Robert had become quite close to Josie. He himself was starting to distance himself from her father, disapproving of how he treated his daughter. From that point on, Robert has been working for Kill the Lights, and has been very protective over Josie, practically seeing her as his own daughter.
- - - - rp sample,
Robert was sitting in his hotel room for the night. Kill the Lights had just finished a show a few hours ago and Robert had decided to kick back and relax for the rest of the night. In his hand he found a shot glass of whiskey however. He didn't drink much anymore, in fact, he rarely drank. Tonight however, his spirits just seemed quite low. He made sure that he wasn't well stocked on liquor though. He only had a small bottle, and after that he'd probably only be well buzzed.
He took a sip of the whiskey sitting back in a chair looking out the large window of the seventh floor. He stared out at the island resort, still bustling with life at these hours. It never surprised him however. Most the people here were young kids following their bands, and some were just barely old enough to drink. So it was no surprise they were staying up until they literally passed out. Looking up a bit he stared out at the ocean and the reflection of the stars in the deep blue, almost black, water.
Somehow the emptiness of it reminded him of his past. He took another drink of the whiskey, a bigger one this time. He really didn't like thinking of his past, but every now and then it crept up on him. He sighed in relief when his cell phone vibrated on the table next to him. He grabbed his phone happy to have a distraction. It wasn't much of anything however. It was a call from the security office.
He picked up the phone and answered. "What is it?" He listened to the other guy on the other end explain why he was calling so late. Not that he wasn't usually up at this time. Throughout the conversation he just nodded and said 'uh huh'. After about five minutes the guy was finished explaining everything and Robert was able to hang up the phone. He sighed lightly and down the last drink of the whiskey that was in his glass. He then got up and threw on a shirt and his leather jacket. He quickly put his shoes on and stepped into the bathroom to rinse his mouth out with some Listerine before he started to head out. Even though he was the head of security for Kill the Lights, the security office always seemed to need his help in other situations when he had the free time. He stepped out of the room and started heading for the elevator. It seemed tonight was going to be another long one as usual. Maybe one day he'd finally get a good nights rest.[/ul][/ul]
