It had not been a particularly busy morning at the store, for once. Then again, Sunday morning... most people on the island were recovering from last night's concert. She hadn't attended herself, and had instead been working late at the store as usual, working up the money to be able to attend one of the gigs next week instead. Plus there was the little issue of buying food and paying that horrible mortgage... Living on her own had certainly been quite a change for her, but it was nice to be independent and she was used to it by this point. Summoning a smile to give to the customer who had just bought several CDs as they walked out of the shop, Aurora stretched a little as she stood from the stool behind the till, waking muscles that had fallen asleep slightly while sitting there stringing up some violins for the last hour or so. Glancing up at the clock she saw it was approaching half ten... a couple of the sales assistants would be arriving in half an hour, ready for the business the store inevitably faced around lunchtime when the band members, not to mention other citizens of the island, normally ventured outside to buy food and anything else they might need.
With the store owner out back doing some paperwork, and no customers in sight just yet, Aurora found herself alone in the shop and a pile of violins all stringed up. Picking up two, she went to place them on the display cabinet in the store window, glancing up and down the mall corridor as she did so. She had been right; it wasn't particularly busy, and only a few shoppers wandered about, none of whom seemed particularly interested in Rhythms right now. Taking a few steps back from the window before turning, she headed to the middle of the shop where the grand piano was on display and gently lifted off the cover that protected the keys.
Setting herself down on the stool gently, she sent another quick glance up towards the store door. She didn't want anyone walking in unexpectedly when she was supposed to be working. She knew that the store owner would probably hear her from the back, but he had never objected to it before... Beginning with a few short scales, relishing the feel of the real piano keys under her fingers and the sound it made, as opposed to her keyboard at home, she eventually started with playing a song she had discovered online one day and gotten stuck in her head. It had refused to go away until she'd sat down at the keyboard at home and worked out the notes, writing them down and making a few changes here and there to make it flow better. She didn't need the sheet music really, it was just habit to write it down in case she wanted to go back to it in the future so she would be able to pick it up again quicker, so the lack of it now was not an issue. Closing her eyes for a few moments as she played, Aurora became lost in the music and didn't hear the sound of the door opening and someone entering the shop.
